THANKS TO EVERYONE
WHO MADE THE 2008 WILLIAMSBURG WARRIORS VARSITY AND JV LACROSSE TEAMS A
SUCCESS!! THE END OF THE YEAR PARTY WAS A GRAND FINALE FOR A VERY
SUCCESSFUL YEAR!!!
Warriors Varsity 2008 --
Season In Review
Without question -- We had a great year! --
10 wins 4 loses overall!! Some great wins and 1 goal
loses against top 5 teams! Laxpower has us ranked # 30 overall -- and
-- # 1 in our division!
The 2008 Warriors held every team played to
less that 10 goals in 2008. The exception was a 10 - 9 loss to
the Richmond Shock -- who we beat 11- 5 to end the season at the
University of Richmond!
Senior Class 2008
Alex Armbruster -- Played long pole middie and became
a very crafty defender who often covered our opponents best middie. I
will miss Al calling me to find out what time practice is -- you have my
number!
Brian Dillon -- Multi sport athlete who will play
football at CNU -- 4 goals in 08 -- I'm sure Brian can pin anyone on the
team!
Brian Elliott -- I think the "bully stick" set
Brian's defensive career in motion! Good position player with great
stickwork. I hope he continues to play at JMU.
Sean Kelly -- Played attack and registered 26 goals &
26 assists -- 56 points. Sean is a very unselfish player. I expect Sean
to be the new club president at JMU in a few years!
Joe Ketron -- Proof that when you want something and
are willing to work hard -- it will happen!
Michael Laycock -- Mike has learned how to become a
great finisher by finding space inside. Lead the team in goals with 47
and 13 assists -- 60 points. One regret -- I wish I had found out about
the juice boxes earlier as you might have generated more goals -- Mike
will have a great career at CNU.
Patrick Lynch -- Paddy had a great year by
contributing in ways that go unnoticed -- 10 goals & 3 assists -- 13
points. -- He had some big goals in key games. I will miss seeing the
Lax Mid on Jamestown Road!
Andy McNitt -- Started on close defense -- became
more confident carrying the ball and had a nice breakaway goal toward
the end of the season.
Taylor Morgan -- good athlete -- played alot of
defensive midfield -- 1 goal & 1 assist -- very hard worker. Let me know
if you ever need an agent!
Colin Morton -- Played close defense -- had some key
minutes and has developed his stick skills -- very positive and
supportive of his teammates.
Will Perkins -- Will turned the corner this year and
developed into a consistent, big game player --19 goals & 20 assists --
39 points. Won close to 70% of the face-offs and had 47 ground balls. He
will have a great career at CNU.
Thomas Rice -- Thomas is a very versatile player who
score some big goals in 2008 -- 10 goals & 3 assists -- 13 points. I'll
always remember Thomas getting the winning overtime goal -vs.- Patriot
Missiles!
Nick Shankland -- Nick is a very athletic player who
played close defense and long stick midfield and made some big plays
this. More importantly I fully expect Nick design more energy space and
solve all our energy problems one day!
Returning Players 2009
Rory Dillon -- Played midfield -- 4 goals & 4 assists
-- 8 points -- a solid year. Rory is a hard worker with a great attitude
and will start in 2009. He should have a good year and become a key guy.
Drew Epps -- "Who's # 7 and where did you get that
kid?" Drew gives a new meaning to being fast! A great athlete with
unlimited potential. He's catching the eye of some D1 coaches -- Led the
team in ground balls with 56. Will need to lead by example in 2009!
Will Fallon -- Will played midfield in 2008 and is
ready for prime time! Will take the ball to the goal. Had a good summer
season!
David Grieff -- Good defensive midfielder whose stick
work continues to improve and has become a very confident player. Will
do well in 2009.
Hunter Griggs -- Hunter played hard all the time and
rarely cames off the field -- does not like to lose in a positive way
and leaves everything on the field! Very aggressive with good speed and
clearing ability -- great leadership potential!
Ian Haislip -- Has the potential to be a great player
-- 6 goals & 1 assist as a freshman -- Had a very good summer and should
be a factor in 2009!
Nick Hill -- Had some good minutes this season and
played behind graduating seniors. Should see significant playing time in
2009.
Mickey Hofmeister -- Very consistent player who is
always putting pressure on the defense by pushing the ball to the goal
-- 34 goals & 38 assists -- 72 points. Has great vision and finds the
open man. Will need to take more of a leadership role in 2009!
Robert Insley -- Very glad that Robert returned to
lacrosse -- he will be counted on at close defense in 2009 -- has some
good minutes this season and very good summer!
Matt Jordan -- played midfield and will see alot of
playing time in 2009 -- plays well in transition -- had a good summer!
Ryan Levinson -- Good attitude and hard worker --
played midfield in 08 -- had a solid summer season!
Micah Matthews -- Had some very good minutes in the
goal as the #2 goal keeper -- a tough role to fill but Micah was always
ready mentally and physically to play.
Ryan McKinley -- Always works hard and leaves nothing
on the field -- practice or games! If everyone worked as hard at
practice -- we would never lose a game! Played LSM in 2008 and might
move to close defense in 2009. Is becoming one of those guys you always
want on the field! -- good leadership potential.
Rudger Shankland -- Very good athlete who can play
variety of positions -- played midfield in 08 -- but is best in the
goal! -- had a very good summer season in the goal and should continue
to improve in 09 -- very positive attitude and is relaxed on the field.
Taylor Terry -- Injured in 08 after playing extremely
well in the first scrimmage -- looking forward to Taylor coming back in
09 -- very good athlete with great speed -- works hard at all times!

Williamsburg Warriors have a new home field this year -
Warhill Sports Complex.
The
synthetic fields are
weather resistant
which requires less maintenance,
all factors that will increase play time and practice space for
community sports programs.
The surface is rubber infilled artificial
turf with permanent lines for lacrosse.
