The bags are in!

Reminder!!! -- Please have all summer fees to me by Wednesday, May 30, 2007. We need to pay for our team bags and the balance of the tournament registration fees! Let John Perkins or me know if anyone needs financial assistance this summer. We can evaluate the same, individually, in the strictest confidence. Tournament or travel expenses should not be an obstacle for anyone who wants to participate this summer! Varsity Tournament in Charlottesville - March 23, 24, & 25

Posted 1/18/07 - We will be traveling to Charlottesville, Virginia -- March 23, 24 and 25 to participate in the Albemarle Jamboree. This tournament includes some of the top high school teams in the country. It should provide us with opportunity to play some quality lacrosse in front of a broad spectrum of high school and college coaches!  We have reserved 25 rooms at the English Inn of Charlottesville located at 2000 Morton Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22903 (434-971-9900). The Inn has set aside a combination of doubles, kings and suites under "Williamsburg Warriors Lax Team." Suites have a king size bed and a pull out sleeper. The rate is $89.99 + tax per night and includes a full breakfast. We will need to stay in Charlottesville, Friday and Saturday -- 3/23 and 3/24. All rooms can be reserved and paid for individually. Please note a credit card will be required to guarantee any reservations. The cut off date is 02/23/07! I looked at several options -- some less expensive -- The English Inn came highly recommended and has been very accommodating. I am leaving it up to parents to make the arrangements based on prior trips we have taken -- knowing many will probably want to travel with their son to watch the games. Right now we are scheduled to play Charlottesville HS at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 23, 2 games on Saturday -- starting around 10:00 AM and 2 games on Sunday, March 25 -- returning to Williamsburg late Sunday afternoon. Total of 5 games. Please let me know if anyone will not be traveling with an adult so we can accommodate them accordingly.

VARSITY Update - Posted 2/14/07 - Practice officially begins on Monday, February 19 @ 4:00 PM -- for everyone! We will practice Monday 2/19 to Friday 2/23 from 4:00 PM to 5:45 PM and Saturday 2/24 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. That schedule will continue until our first game on Sunday, March 11 in Charlottesville. Again, bring all equipment on Monday 2/19. General Information

JV - JV will start Spring practice this Saturday, 2/3 from 10am - 12pm. Please wear sweat pants and a hoody.  JV will practice in full gear. The next JV practices will be on Tuesday 2/6 and Thursday 2/8 from 4pm till dark.  Followed with a practice on Saturday 2/10 from 10am - 12pm.  Starting on Monday 2/12, JV will practice Monday through Thursday from 4pm till dark. VARSITY - Spring practice begins on Monday 2/5 at Norge Elementary School from 4:00 to 5:45 PM. The school is located approximately 3 miles west of Centerville Road on Route 60 in Norge (just North of Williamsburg).  We are guests at the facility so please respect the rules and regulations -- most important the speed limit when you enter the school -- Drive very slow!!! -- and park behind the school close to the fields. Helmets and gloves the first day or so -- but bring all your equipment and be ready to run! -- So bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. You must wear sweat pants and a hoodie or something comparable to keep warm. If you come in shorts you will be sent home to get sweat pants -- so dress appropriately! All players are required to attend unless you are involved in a winter sport. Let Coach Hofmeister know when your season is over and when the team can expect to see you if this applies to you.

CHANGE Posted 2/7/07 - Our game this Saturday 2/10/07 is scheduled for 12:00 PM at RISE. We play Western Albemarle -- a very good team! Please arrive by 11:30 AM -- Bring plenty of liquids. Posted 1/31/07 - Thanks to all the parents that attended the meeting tonight. John Perkins updated the parents regarding uniforms, helmets, and budgetary information. Coach Hill and Coach Hofmeister updated the parents on the practice and game schedules. For games, Coaches want players to be on the field, dressed out, 45 minutes prior to the game. Directions will be posted for all games.  All practices are at Norge Elementary and all home games are at James River Elementary.  If any parent has any questions that were not answered tonight, please make sure you talk to either of the coaches or John.   Please note that although we hope the schedule will stay as planned, changes are likely to occur.  Changes to some of the times for games have been made to both the JV and Varsity Schedules.  Please check the JV and Varsity Schedule pages regularly in case changes are made.

Posted 1/18/07 - The helmets are in -- we are waiting for the logo -- and will be distributing soon! We will be having a parent meeting within the next few weeks to answer any questions regarding the upcoming season and summer venues. Time and place to follow. A reminder -- the final team fee installment of $125.00 is due February 1, 2007! Please call us if you have any financial needs. We have scholarship forms on the website. All awards are confidential. Varsity Tournament

Schedule to follow for OMB Indoor Tournament -- Friday, December 29, 2006, at the Fredericksburg Fieldhouse. The fieldhouse is located at -- 3411 Shannon Park Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408 -- about 1 hour and 50 minutes from Williamsburg. The fieldhouse telephone number is 540-361-3411.

Our first game is at 10:00 am -- Please be there by 9:15 am! Wednesday, December 27th

We will practice on Wednesday, December 27, 2006, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at WISC -- to prepare for the OMB Tournament on Friday, December 29 in Fredericksburg, VA. Please wear running shoes. Cleats are not permitted on the indoor surface at WISC. In addition, defensemen should bring long and short poles if you have the same!  I know we are entering a holiday week so please let me know if you are unable to attend practice. Otherwise, I will see all in Fredericksburg on Friday Dec. 29. I'll let you know game times when I receive the schedule and will forward via email.

Games will start at 9:00 AM and finish about 5:00 PM. We are guaranteed 5 games and a championship round. Please forward a check for $40.00 to -- MDH, PO Box 5832, Williamsburg, VA 23188 -- to cover the team fee along with a waiver of liability form that can be downloaded -  it is the same form used for the Ghost & Goblins tournament.

Just a quick note to thank all who attended yesterday. It was a beautiful day and -- our "team" -- played great lacrosse! We finished 5 and 1. I could highlight many individual performances as many players continue to exceed even my expectations. A second place finish within a field of 16 talented teams gives us something to shoot for next time out!  Taylor Morgan and Jeff Schurott made the all-star team.  Shane Wilkinson was named MVP for Williamsburg Warriors.

I'm considering an indoor league (Saturdays in Richmond) and tournaments (late December & January 2007) for those not involved in winter sports along with an ongoing conditioning program. Let me know what your interest and availability is regarding the same.

Also, I will calling a meeting for the parents after the New Year to evaluate some of the summer team camp tournaments. We need discuss the interest and feasibility of trying to attend some of the more promoted venues where logistics -- travel and cost -- need to be considered.

Needless to say -- we are becoming a very good team that will continue to improve as we move into the spring of 2007!

Sunday, November 12th

Congratulations to the JV Team!!!

18 hard working Warriors made it to the final game in Fredericksburg. The boys beat a Stafford team twice our size in the 1st round. What a thriller! We were down 2-0 and made a hard fought comeback to tie it up. We then went to a sudden death Braveheart. Erik Joseph, Logan Pinotti, and Gaston Ledford ended the game with a great save by Eric. Gaston did the rest with an impressive right hand sweep and stuck the winning goal. The kids were very excited. We then played a couple of teams for a halve only. They did not count. We then played Colonial Forge and blitzed them 11-1 to play in the final vs Charlottesville.

This was an impressive elite team who pretty much had there way with us. Their coach is a friend of mine and that team had 16 9th graders, 2 10th graders, and 1 injured 8th grader. This is the type of program we would like copy. You can learn a lot when you play teams that good. I was proud of the boys effort and the way they hung in there. We will get better because we will continue to work hard and GROW. So drink your milk. Thanks to all the parents for pulling together and making the day a success. We had fun!! NO PRACTICE SUN. Saturday, November 4th

Congratulations to the Varsity Team!!!  They placed 1st in their Division at the Ghost and Goblins Tournament and lost a very close game in the semi-finals (10-9)!  Stats are posted under the Varsity Page.  We are working on a new format for statistics.  (fyi - Woodson beat Madison 8-7 in the finals)

Message from Coach Hofmeister  --  All WW Players & Parents:
We played some "great lacrosse" against some quality teams this weekend -- everyone contributed!  Consistent offensive performances from Sean Kelly, Will Perkins, Thomas Rice and Mickey Hofmeister. Patrick Lynch, Jeff Schurott and Taylor Morgan, controlled the faceoffs and ground balls. Shane Wilkinson, Brian Elliott, Hunter Griggs, Alex Armbruster and Andy McNitt played smart and aggressive lacrosse all day. Without question -- Joe Ketrone was our "Most Valuable Player". I have never seen Joe play better!

I will see everyone -- Wednesday and Saturday. Let me know if you cannot attend either practice day!

We need to Improve! -- Being able to utilize more of players under key game situations -- practice will take care of the same. And -- our language and conduct during the games -- on the field and sidelines!  Thanks to everyone that attended and made the day a successful one!
